Option-Able Newsletter 20th July 25

Hi Traders,

More record highs this week after the XJO broke out in the afternoon session Friday, finishing at 8,761.2 for the week. The ASX200 Volatility Index, XVI, also rallied and closed at 11.9%.

Mining stocks are back? BHP leading the charge after record Copper and Iron Ore production, just in time for earnings season to begin. Are investors expecting a dividend increase? Seems like it from the market rally Friday.

A big week for OptionsAU, although not a lot of blog post / research was published. But here is what we have achieved:

1. Website Makeover
Brand new website redesign and homepage, leading directly to what you're here for, the research and trade ideas. Here is a snippet of what it looks like:

2. New Strategy Page
An Overview of the strategies we use in our house portfolios. It's great to showcase our methods, albeit at only a high level at the moment, for newcomers on the website to see. Hope it will attract attention to more page viewers, as organic traffic is peaking via my Google Console analytics.

Strategy - OptionsAU
A place for Australian self-directed investors to test the financial norms by understanding derivatives. ASX Options Research, Insights, Ideas and more to understand and use options to enchance portfolio outcomes.

3. Volatility Analysis Page
More pages! This one more practical. A place for ASX Options traders to quickly reference the Current Implied Volatility vs OptionsAU's own Reference Volatility, so users can determine if Volatility is Cheap or Expensive. I've included IV Ranks, Ratios and even calculated the 30 Day Expected Move!
More details on the page below:

ASX IV Reference Table
The ASX IV Reference table is built to quickly analyse the top Optionable stocks on the ASX by their normal volatility (reference volatility) compared to their current volatility

4. Newsletter Re-brand
Did you not see this already? Option-able is now the brand of our derivatives trading newsletter, powered by OptionsAU. Can't wait to showcase our podcast name when that comes out later in the year. I'd like to know your thoughts and suggestions on how to make this newsletter not only great, but practical for you, the reader.

United Kingdom

The Final few weeks before earnings season begins. We're expecting Quarterly reports from many of the ASX200 and Volatility Expansion leading into the heart of August. This reporting season is make or break for a number of businesses. After being let off easy in February, not providing guidance due to Mr. Tariff Trump, the market (at ATH's) is expecting good numbers, healthy dividends and even better forecasts.

If you're trading company earnings and want to be long options, now is generally the time to get your positions on, as Implied Volatilities are expected to increase leading into and up to earnings date.

Happy Trading and Chat with you all soon.
